Among the numerous precision components of automotive engines, the crankcase ventilation filter is a core component that is easily overlooked by car owners. It is also commonly referred to as the CCV filter or crankcase ventilation filter, and is a key component of the engine's PCV forced ventilation system. Many car owners only pay attention to the replacement of engine oil, oil filter, and air filter, but know nothing about this filter. They are unaware that it directly affects the engine operating conditions, oil life, and overall environmental performance, and is the "invisible guardian" that protects the cleanliness of the engine interior.

During the operation of the engine, when the piston reciprocates, a small amount of high-temperature and high-pressure gas will enter the crankcase through the clearance between the piston rings, and this part of the gas is called blow by. The blow by gas contains impurities such as unburned fuel vapor, oil mist, carbon particles, sulfides, etc., which can also cause a continuous increase in pressure inside the crankcase. If these polluted gases cannot be discharged in a timely manner, excessive internal pressure will squeeze the oil seal and gasket, causing oil leakage problems. At the same time, impurities will accelerate the oxidation and deterioration of the engine oil, seriously damaging the core components of the engine.

The core working principle of the crankcase ventilation filter is very precise, using a dual technology of layered filtration and oil-gas separation. When the blow by gas in the crankcase flows with the ventilation pipe, it first enters the filter and accurately intercepts the oil mist, carbon particles and solid impurities in the gas through the special filter media such as foam, wire mesh or folded filter paper. The intercepted oil mist will condense into liquid oil on the surface of the filter element, and flow back to the oil pan through the return pipeline for reuse. The filtered clean gas will be sent to the intake manifold through the PCV valve and re-enter the combustion chamber for full combustion.

The core value of this filter is reflected in three dimensions. One is to stabilize the pressure and protect the engine, continuously balancing the internal air pressure of the crankcase, avoiding oil seal deformation, gasket leakage and other faults caused by high pressure, and reducing engine oil leakage problems from the source. The second is to purify and protect the oil, block harmful impurities from entering the engine oil, delay the speed of oil emulsification, oxidation, blackening and deterioration, greatly extend the service life of the engine oil, and ensure the lubrication, cooling and sealing performance of the engine oil. The third is environmental protection and energy conservation, which prevents untreated harmful blow by gases from being directly discharged into the atmosphere, reduces the content of exhaust pollutants, and avoids oil mist from entering the intake system, causing carbon deposits in the throttle valve and blockage of the intake duct, ensuring engine intake efficiency and improving fuel economy.

Unlike conventional filter elements, the crankcase ventilation filter is subjected to harsh conditions such as high temperature, high oil pollution, and high humidity for a long time, continuously enduring the high-temperature baking and oil pollution erosion of the engine compartment. Therefore, higher requirements are placed on the material for high temperature resistance, anti clogging, and oil and gas separation efficiency. Although it is compact in size, it plays an important role in protecting the internal working conditions of the engine, reducing the probability of failure, and minimizing exhaust pollution. It is an indispensable core component of the engine ventilation system.
