Most equipment operators and maintenance personnel tend to confuse hydraulic filters, oil filters, and air filters as three types of filtration accessories. Although they are all equipment filtration consumables, their service systems, working conditions, filtration media, precision standards, and maintenance logic are completely different. Blindly mixing and uniformly maintaining them can lead to multiple failures such as hydraulic system pollution and engine wear. Clearly distinguishing the core differences among the three types of filters is the foundation of refined maintenance for commercial vehicles and construction machinery, which can avoid more than 80% of basic maintenance misconceptions from the root.

There are essential differences between the three service systems and the filtering media. Hydraulic filters are exclusively designed to serve hydraulic transmission systems, with the filtering medium being circulating hydraulic oil. The core purification equipment extracts circulating oil from the lifting, walking, and rotating hydraulic circuits, intercepting system wear impurities, external dust, oil sludge, and fine moisture, ensuring precise and stable hydraulic transmission, and adapting to high-pressure, closed-loop, and continuous operating conditions. Oil filters serve the engine lubrication system, filtering out metal debris and carbon impurities in engine oil, protecting precision engine components such as crankshafts, pistons, and bearings, and focusing on lubrication protection under high temperature conditions. Air filters serve the engine intake system, filtering out external air impurities to ensure the combustion conditions of the engine, without liquid filtration or high pressure tolerance requirements.

There are significant differences in working conditions and performance parameters, and the adaptation scenarios are completely incompatible. The hydraulic filter needs to withstand a system high pressure of 10-35MPa for a long time, withstand high-frequency flushing of hydraulic oil and temperature fluctuations (-20 ℃ to 80 ℃). The core parameters are filtration accuracy, pressure resistance strength, pollutant holding capacity, and flow rate. It is required that high pressure does not deform, large flow does not throttle, and high precision does not block. The oil filter focuses on high temperature resistance and oil corrosion resistance, and is suitable for high-temperature lubrication conditions of the engine. Its pressure resistance level is much lower than that of hydraulic filter elements. The air filter is a dry gas filter that does not require pressure resistance or oil resistance. It only needs to balance the intake resistance and filtration accuracy, and is completely unable to adapt to high-pressure liquid filtration conditions in hydraulic systems.

The impact of faults and maintenance patterns are vastly different. The failure and blockage of hydraulic filter elements can directly lead to an increase in hydraulic oil temperature, unstable system pressure, sluggish operation, blocked oil circuits, component wear, resulting in a decrease in equipment operating efficiency and shutdown faults, without affecting engine operation. Failure of the oil filter element can cause insufficient engine lubrication, component wear, and oil burning faults; Failure of the air filter can lead to poor engine intake, increased fuel consumption, and decreased power. In terms of maintenance cycle, the hydraulic filter element is based on the core standard of equipment operation hours, and the replacement time for construction machinery is usually 1000-2000 hours; Oil and air filters are often replaced based on mileage or short-term operating hours, with a much higher frequency of replacement than hydraulic filters.

The selection and structural design are highly targeted, and universal interchangeability is strictly prohibited. The hydraulic filter element adopts high-strength metal frame, oil resistant and corrosion-resistant filter material, high-pressure sealing structure, pressure resistant and explosion-proof, anti deformation and leakage, and is suitable for liquid circulation filtration; The structure of the oil filter element focuses on high-temperature sealing, and the filter material is adapted to the oil medium; The air filter is a dry paper/fiber structure with no pressure resistance. Daily maintenance must strictly distinguish between three types of filter cartridges, each performing its own duties and independently maintaining them, to prevent mixing and incorrect installation, and to take into account the dual protection of the engine and hydraulic system, ensuring stable operation of the equipment 24/7.
