【Meiruier Filter】The importance of crankcase ventilation filters

2025-09-22 View:

The crankcase ventilation filter plays a crucial role in modern engines. It not only helps to reduce environmental pollution, but also extends the service life of engines and improves fuel economy. If the ventilation filter fails, it may lead to a decline in engine performance, deterioration of engine oil, leakage of oil seals and other problems, and may even damage the engine.

The function of the crankcase ventilation filter
Prevent engine oil from deteriorating: Gases in the crankcase (such as unburned fuel gas, water vapor and exhaust) will dilute the engine oil, leading to a decline in its performance. The ventilation filter helps reduce the accumulation of these gases, thereby protecting the quality of the engine oil.
Prevent leakage of oil seals and sealing parts: Excessive pressure inside the crankcase can cause damage to oil seals and sealing parts, thereby leading to oil leakage. The ventilation filter prevents this from happening by regulating the pressure inside the crankcase.
Reduce emission pollution: If the exhaust gas in the crankcase is directly discharged into the atmosphere, it will cause environmental pollution. The ventilation filter introduces these exhaust gases into the intake pipe, allowing them to reignite and thereby reducing pollution.
Improving combustion efficiency: By reintroducing the exhaust gas from the crankcase into the combustion chamber, the ventilation filter helps to enhance combustion efficiency and reduce fuel consumption.

The working principle of the crankcase ventilation filter
Crankcase Ventilation filters are usually used in combination with PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) systems. The working principle of the PCV system is as follows:

Fresh air introduction: Fresh air is introduced into the crankcase from behind the air filter and mixes with the gas inside the crankcase.
Oil-gas separation: The mixed gas passes through the oil-gas separator. The separated engine oil is returned to the crankcase, while the gas continues to pass through the PCV valve.
Exhaust gas re-combustion: The gas enters the intake pipe through the PCV valve and is drawn into the combustion chamber together with fresh air or a mixture for re-combustion.

In conclusion, the crankcase ventilation filter is an indispensable part of engine maintenance. Regular inspection and maintenance of the ventilation filter can ensure the efficient operation and long-term reliability of the engine.
